Pierson, Robbie Whitten Services for Robbie Whitten Pierson, of Longview, will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, February 17, 2007, at the Abby Chapel of Restland Funeral Home in Dallas. Interment will follow. Mrs. Pierson passed away on February 14, 2007, at a local care facility. Mrs. Pierson was born September 19, 1917, in Dallas, to John and Mabel Whitten, who preceded her in death. She was raised and educated in Dallas and worked for Bradford Children's Hospital and Ford Motor Co. She married M.A., "Jack" Pierson in 1939. The couple later moved to Houston, where Dr. Pierson completed medical school. After Dr. Pierson's military service, they settled in Dallas to raise their family. Robbie served in many leadership capacities at East Grand Baptist Church and was very involved in her children's activities. The Piersons moved to Athens in 1969, where Robbie served faithfully at First Baptist Church and participated in civic activities. Mrs. Pierson relocated to Longview in 2001 to be closer to her family. She then became a member of First Baptist Church in Longview. Robbie was devoted to her family and friends. She was a lady of great character who served her Lord in countless ways. Mrs. Pierson was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack, in 1996; and by a brother and sister. She is survived by her daughter, Elaine Martin and husband, Rick, of Dallas; her son, Dr. Don Pierson and wife, Mary, of Longview; and her son, Steve Pierson of Kingwood. Other survivors include her brother, Tony Whitten and wife, Ann, of Royse City; her brother-in-law, Pete Pierson and wife, Pat, of Dallas; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Those wishing to do so, may honor Mrs. Pierson with a memorial donation to the Pierson Endowment Fund at Buckner Foundation, 600 Pearl St., Ste. 2260, Dallas, TX, 75201; or to First Baptist Church Athens, P.O. Box 672, Athens, TX 75751. Her family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. this evening, February 16, 2007, at Welch Funeral Home at 4619 Judson Road.
