Pitman, Bronson "Pete" CUSHING - Funeral services for Bronson "Pete" Pitman, 90, of Longview, formerly of Cushing, will be 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 26, 2007, at the Dickie Allen Funeral Home Chapel in Cushing, with the Rev. Danny Sammons officiating. Burial will be in the McKnight Cemetery near Cushing. Mr. Pitman died Sunday in Longview. He was born September 23, 1916, in Cushing, Texas, to Francis J. and Sultana Grisham Pitman. Mr. Pitman had lived in Longview for the last 38 years and had also lived in Haltom City, Texas. He was a Baptist and had worked as a diesel mechanic and in pipeline construction. He was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran of World War II. Mr. Pitman was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing and gardening. He was preceded in death by his wives, Opal Lorean Reeves Pitman and Pauline Dyer Pitman; brothers, Henry Pitman, Ellis Pitman, Virgil Pitman, Hardy Pitman and Doyle Pitman; and sisters, Maurine Booker, Ruby Satterwhite and Ines Pitman. Survivors include his son, David Pitman of Longview, Texas; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Buddy Wooley, Bruce Richards, Bill Booker, Jimmy Rogers, Eddie Gibson and Wayne Pitman. Visitation will be 2-3 p.m. Tuesday, June 26, 2007, at the funeral home in Cushing. Published in the Longview News-Journal on 6/25/2007.
