The Reverend David Hampton will officiate. Mrs. Pitt died Monday, August 27, 2007, at a local nursing center. Evelyn was born May 1, 1932, in Malakoff. She was the third of four children. Her parents were H.P. Spicer and her mother and stepfather were George and Maggie Hall. On August 10, 1947, she married G.S. "Pete" Pitt. They were married 55years. They lived in the home they built with their own hands in Lakeport for 53 years. In that home, they raised four children. Evelyn was one of the first members of Trinity Baptist Church. She worked for the Longview ISD in the cafeteria until she retired. She moved to the Gregg Home for the Aged in January of 2004. She was a very happy and cheerful resident, and was cared for by a loving staff and friends until her death. To be a family member, friend, or just an acquaintance of Evelyn was a blessing. She was the definition of a caregiver, always helpful and loving. She was a joy to be around and always had a smile on her face. Survivors include a brother, Raymond Spicer; sister, Betty Spicer; her children and their spouses, Roy and Carol Pitt, Rose and Tommy Elia, Diane and James Henry, and Bonnie and Laurie Sypert; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous other loving family and friends survive her. In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial donation to Gregg Home for the Aged, 144 Hwy. 1252 W., Kilgore, TX 75662; or your favorite charity.
