Powers, Billy R. Billy R. Powers, 82, of Longview, passed away Friday, June 15, after a courageous battle with congestive heart failure and a severe case of shingles. Mr. Powers was born July 28, 1924, in Lometa, Texas, later coming to Longview after serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. Billy owned and operated an air conditioning and heating company and was involved in rental property maintenance. He enjoyed his motor home, singing and playing his guitar. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ona Kaiser; sister, Dorotha Hatfield; and several aunts and uncles. Survivors include his wife, Melba Powers; daughters, Kay Whiteside and husband, Ernest, of Hallsville, Debi Barry and husband, Tim, of Florida, and Connie Ryan of Longview; sons, Harold and Jack Bridges; 13 grandchildren, Hollie Whiteside, Melissa Belk, Jake, Jed, Jennie, Joni Bridges,Toni and Pete Ryan, Keri and Jay Bridges, and Lorne, Jessica and Larry Bridges; nephew, Norman Hatfield; niece, Ona Harworth; 12 great- grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 19, 2007 at noon in the chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview with Hospice Chaplain David Reeder officiating. Entombment will follow in Memory Park Mausoleum.
