Phillips, Dudley LeWayne Funeral service for Dudley LaWayne Phillips, 70, a longtime resident of Longview, will be at 11 a.m. Friday, January 26, 2007, in the Welch Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Greg Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Grace Hill Cemetery. Mr. Phillips passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2007, at his residence. Mr. Phillips was born February 5, 1936, in Spurger, Texas, to E.D. and Betty May Hunter Phillips. He served as an aerial gunner on a B-52 Bomber in the United States Air Force from 1955 until his retirement in 1976. After retiring from the United States Air Force, he worked for Air Liquide America for 20 years. Mr. Phillips was a member of Mobberly Baptist Church, a Shriner, and a member of Scottish Rite and Blue Lodge. He was preceded in death by his parents. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of more than 49 years, Martha Phillips of Longview; his son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Pam Phillips of Longview; and his sister, Elna Faye Sweeny of Texas City.
