Rogers, Donald Kreth Donald Kreth Rogers, 85, passed away on August 27, 2007, in Longview. He was born May 28, 1922, in Vernon, Texas, the son of David Lester Rogers and Fletta Samford Rogers. He attended Lamar High School in Houston and joined the U.S. Navy during World War II. He married Mary Jane Moffatt during the War. They were stationed many places including, Hawaii, where their daughter, Sharon, was born. He served 21 years in the U.S. Navy, finally as a naval flight officer. After his honorable discharge at NAS Kingsville, Texas, he worked for Brown and Root and later for Celanese Chemical in purchasing until his second retirement. His favorite pastimes were gardening and spending time close to nature in the hill country west of Bandera. He and Mary moved to Longview in 1996 to be closer to their grandchildren. Mary, his wife of 53 years, passed away in 1997, 10 years ago this week. Don married Arlene Parsley in 1998 at the First Christian Church in Kilgore. He was a Christian and attended the First Christian Church in Kilgore and Jerusalem Baptist Church in Longview. He is survived by his wife, Arlene Rogers; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and David Cox; stepdaughter and her husband, Arla and Bob Marzano; grandchildren, Chelsea Cox, Tyler Cox and Joseph Marzano; great-grandchildren, Donovan and Amy Marzano, all of Longview; brothers, Gayle Donham and Tim Donham; brother-in-law, Robert Moffatt, all of Houston; sister, Jan Wilson of Flint; and sister-in-law, Robbie Parker of New Hampshire. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 1, 2007, at Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church at 1327 Cotton Street in Longview, with Pastor Joe Creal officiating.
