Rogers, Norma Jo Davis PALESTINE -- Funeral services for Norma Jo Davis Rogers, 82, of Palestine, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 27, 2007, at Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home Chapel in Palestine, with nephews, Dale Osteen and Michael Hardy, officiating. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. in Grace Hill Cemetery of Longview. Mrs. Rogers died Tuesday, January 23, 2007, at a Tyler hospital. She was born September 23, 1924, in rural Runnels County, Texas, to Otis Ransom Davis and Irma Chapmond Davis. She graduated from Winters High School in 1941, and attended Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene. She and her husband, Joe C. Rogers, moved to Palestine in 1965, coming from Longview. They were active members of Meadowbrook Country Club in Palestine for more than 25 years. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church and a charter member of the Harvey Women's Club. Mrs. Rogers was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joe Clyde Rogers; infant son, James C. King Jr.; son, Joe A. Rogers; and grandsons, Darren Rogers and Eric Rogers. Survivors include her four sons, Jon king of Palestine, Jim Hatler of Winters, Jay Hatler of Palestine, and Mike Rogers of Longview; two daughters, Jill Nations of Neches, and Ann Hairston of Seattle, Wash.; one sister, Sandra Phelps of Austin; three brothers, Chapmond Davis of North Richland Hills, Sherril Davis of Keller, and Jerry Davis of Houston; 15 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Her grandsons, Jon King II, Jim Hatler II, Kevin King, Thomas Thompson, C. Adam Nations, and Joe David King, will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. this evening, January 26, 2007, at Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home in Palestine. Published in the Longview News-Journal on 1/26/2007.
