Schmidt, Walter KILGORE -- Services for Walter Schmidt, 91, of Liberty City, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, February 15, 2007, at the chapel at Rader Funeral Home of Kilgore, with the Reverend Phillip Fenton officiating. Interment will be in Danville Cemetery, prior to services. Mr. Schmidt was born February 2, 1916, in Evansville, Indiana, to Walter Herman and Leticia Lee Schmidt, who preceded him in death. Mr. Schmidt was a retired supervisor with Dupont. He was a Mason and had received his 50-year pin. Mr. Schmidt was an avid golfer and enjoyed all sports. He was an active member of the American Lutheran Church. Mr. Schmidt will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great- great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Hazel Schmidt of Liberty City; two children and their spouses, Peggy and Don Bowne of Kilgore, and Bud and Sharon Schmidt of Holly Lake; brother, Phillip Schmidt of Boise, Idaho; six grandchildren and spouses, Gayla and Kevin Baxter of Kilgore, David and Vadonna Bowne of Longview, LaDonna and Michael Fasang of Sachse, Keith and Pam Schmidt of Richardson, Kelly and Jeff Adams of North Barrington, Illinois and Klay and Gen Schmidt of Chugiak, Alaska; 11 great-grandchildren; one great- great-grandson; as well as numerous other loving family and friends.
