Simmermann Sr., Emmett H. "Bud" Funeral services for Emmett H. "Bud" Simmermann, 87, of Longview, will be 10 a.m. Monday in the chapel of Rader Funeral Home, Longview, with Pastor Jeff Roadcap officiating. Entombment will be in the Memory Park Mausoleum. Mr. Simmermann died Thursday afternoon at his residence. He was born July 17, 1919, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Joseph and Elizabeth Simmermann, who preceded him in death. Mr. Simmermann was known by everyone as Bud. Bud enlisted in the U.S. Army as a private and served during World War II before being honorably discharged in 1943. He then joined the Army Reserves and was honorably discharged in 1953, having attained the rank of first lieutenant. He married the love of his life, Evie Jean Barber, on January 30, 1945. He moved his family to Longview in 1957, and went to work for Texas Eastman as a machinist. He retired from Eastman as an inspector after 27 years. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. His generous and loving spirit, his strength of character and commitment to his family was known to all who knew him. Bud was a much loved and respected father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evie Jean; a brother, Vince; and a sister, Clotilda Jadelot. He is survived by a son, Emmett "Buddy" Simmermann Jr. and wife, Selena, of Longview; daughters, Kathy Hartsell of Tyler and Linda Jackson and husband, Jack, of Kansas City, Mo.; sisters, Laverne O'Donnell and Delores Zeigler, both of St. Louis, Mo.; grandchildren, Andrea Clark of Tyler, Adam Stineman of Longview, Katy Oreskes of Folsom, Calif., and Hank Jackson of Kansas City, Mo.; and six great-grandchildren.
