Services for Derwood "Jay" Smelley Jr., 42, will be 11 a.m. Monday, October 
30, 2006, at Jay Valley Baptist Church, with Brother Jace Roberts officiating. 
Burial will be in Crain-Smelley Cemetery. Arrangements are by East Texas 
Funeral Home. Mr. Smelley died October 20, 2006, in Amarillo. He was born 
September 22, 1964, in Longview. Survivors include his sons, D.J. and Taylor 
Smelley; mother, Wanda Vernon; father, Derwood Smelley; and sisters, Lorrie 
Suddeth. Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Sunday, October 29, 2006, at the funeral 
home.

Derwood "Jay" Smelley Jr., 42, went home to be with his Lord on October 20, 
2006, in Amarillo, Texas. Jay was born September 22, 1964, in Longview, Texas. 
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, October 30, 2006, at Jay Valley Baptist 
Church, with Brother Jace Roberts officiating. Burial will be in Crain-Smelley 
Cemetery. Jay is survived by his two sons, D.J. and Taylor Smelley; his parents, 
Wanda Vernon, and Derwood and Jody Smelley; his sisters and brothers-in-law, 
Lorrie and Jeff Suddeth, Michelle and Eli Smith, and Stephanie Bussey; nieces 
and nephews, Stuart and Michael Scott Suddeth, Jacob, Tate, Brittany, David, 
and Parker; and lots of aunts, uncles, and cousins who loved him and will miss 
him. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. today, October 29, 2006, at East Texas 
Funeral Home. "All men are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers
