Swinney, L. H. "Pete" Funeral services for L.H. "Pete" Swinney, 91, of Longview, will be 10 a.m. Saturday, November 4, 2006, at the chapel of Rader Funeral Home, 1617 Judson Road, with Mr. Carl Cole officiating. Interment will follow in Memory Park Cemetery. Pete was born February 4, 1915, in Love County, Oklahoma, to Perry Elisha and Mel Viney Swinney. He died Wednesday, November 1, 2006, at a local medical center. Mr. Swinney had been a resident of Longview since 1945, coming from Lockesburg, Arkansas. He retired as a shipping and receiving clerk for Standard Tool & Machine Co., where he worked from 1943-1978, was a member of the Greggton Church of Christ, and had served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. Pete was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Flora Swinney; daughter and son-in-law, Emily and Al Peterman; grandson, Terry W. Peterman; sisters, Maggie Nevill and Emma Hudson; and brother, Ester Walton. He is survived by grandson, Todd A. Peterman of Longview; sister, Faye Leeson of Aztec, N.M.; and a number of nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Sreeman Jampana's office, and the staff of Heritage at Longview Healthcare Center for their loving care over the years.
