Singleton, Richard "Bud" Bennett MOUNT VERNON - Richard Bennett "Bud" Singleton was born March 6, 1918, in Mount Vernon. After serving his country in the 28th Infantry in Europe during World War II, he received American Defense Service Medal, EAME Campaign Medal with four Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal, one Service Stripe, and two Overseas Service Bars. He worked in the Transport Department of the Dow Chemical Co. in Freeport for 30 years. After retiring, he moved to Longview. Bud was a kind man who enjoyed being with his family. He always looked forward to his coffee time with the friends he made here in Longview. Bud passed away at the age of 89 on September 30, 2007. Bud is survived by Alene Woods Singleton of Mount Vernon, his wife of 64 years; brother, Jeff Singleton of Tucson, Arizona; daughter, Judy A. Dailey of Longview; sons, Jim and Ketta Singleton of Bandera, and Richard and Linda Singleton of Jones Creek; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 11 a.m. today, October 4, 2007, at the Harvey Funeral Chapel and will be officiated by Brother Wayne McKay. Bud will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery north of Mount Vernon. Pallbearers will be Michael A. Dailey, Robert O. Dailey, Jake A. Williams, Joe W. Singleton, Jeff D. Singleton and Brian J.
