Strawn, Charles A. Charles A. Strawn, 84, a former senior appraiser of property for the State of Texas, who was a member of the Longview Church of Christ, passed away after a short illness on August 19, 2007, at Summer Meadows in Longview. Mr. Strawn and his wife, Janice Oweita, had resided in Longview since 1963. Mr. Strawn was born October 8, 1922, in Murfreesboro, Arkansas, and he married Janice Oweita Brazeal in July of 1943. During his lifetime, Mr. Strawn held positions as a deputy sheriff, a postal worker, a Real Estate broker and as a senior appraiser for the State of Texas. He was also a member of the U.S. Army Air Corps. He taught Sunday school and was an elder at the Mobberly Church of Christ. Most recently, a member of the Longview Church of Christ, he started the World Bible School program for this congregation. He was also an active teacher for the World Bible School. Mr. Strawn was preceded in death by his son, Charles Dudley Strawn. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Janice Oweita; daughter, Glenda Hunter; grandsons, Bryan Hunter and Ronnie Strawn; granddaughters, Shannon Beauchamp, Cathy Butts and Dana Strawn; and his 12 great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 22, 2007, at the Rader Funeral Home Chapel, 1617Judson Road in Longview, with Bryan Hunter and Robert Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Rosewood Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to World Bible School, P.O. Box 2169 Cedar Park, TX 78630.
