He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed camping and spending time at their second home on the Bolivar Peninsula, where he spent many hours enjoying his view of Galveston Bay. He also enjoyed woodcarving, a hobby he and Leah shared. He was a member of the East Texas Woodcarvers and Texas Woodcarvers Guild. Charles was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Longview Lodge No. 404 and Eastern Star No. 610. Charles was a former member of the Longview Civitan and Longview Kiwanis Clubs. Charles was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday school and was a nursing home chaplain prior to being licensed to preach on February 17, 2007. He served as music and education director at many churches prior to Fellowship Baptist Church, including North Longview Baptist Church and Trinity Baptist Church of Longview. He continued his nursing home ministry until the Lord called him home. Charles was an extremely family-oriented person.
