Walker, Ernest J. Ernest J. Walker, 85, of Longview, died Tuesday, January 31, 2006, at his residence. He was born September 19, 1920, in Laneville, to Ernest and Annie "Johnson" Walker. Ernest proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1941 until 1948, and was a veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Greggton United Methodist Church and was active in the VFW. A mechanical engineer by trade, Ernest retired from Texas Eastman in 1982, with 26 years of faithful service. Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Alberta Walker; son, David Walker and wife, Joan; daughters, Alicia Bishop and husband, Larry, and Melanie Truesdell and husband, John; and grandchildren, Linsey and Logan Bishop. He will also be missed by a host of special friends. The family will receive friends after 5 p.m. this evening, February 1, 2006, at Lakeview Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted 10 a.m. Thursday, February 2, 2006, at the Greggton United Methodist Church in Longview. Burial will be 2 p.m. Thursday afternoon, February 2, 2006, in the Laneville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to an organization that was close to Ernest's heart, the Hiway 80 Rescue Mission, 3117 Marshall Ave., Longview, TX 75604.
