Wedemeyer, Annie F. "Ann" Ann Wedemeyer went home to be with her Lord on June 7, 2006. She was a longtime resident of Longview, and most recently had lived with her family in Tyler for the last year. She was 93 years old. Ann was born Annie Fearn Oliver on November 19, 1912, in Reynoldsville, Georgia, to William Douglas and Annie S. Townsend Oliver. She grew up in Oklahoma, where she graduated from high school and attended the University of Oklahoma. It was there that she met and married her first husband, Robert Erle Evans, M.D. in 1934. Dr. Evans was a captain in the U.S. Army Medical Service Corps and died in an automobile accident while Ann was pregnant with her first son, Erle Douglas Evans, who was born in 1941. In 1944, Ann was married to the late Henry Carson Wedemeyer, her husband, of 47 years, until his death on June 7, 1991. Ann's second son, Henry Michael Wedemeyer was born to them in 1945. Ann and Henry moved to Longview in 1950, where they made a life for themselves and their two sons, Erle and Mike, building a house out from town on Tryon Road to raise their boys in the country. Ann was a homemaker, den mother, little league mom, room mother, and PTA participant while her sons were growing up. In later years, she taught elementary school in Ore City and St. Mary's School in Longview. An excellent cook, Ann, along with Henry, loved to entertain in their home, as well as serving in their community and church. Over many years, Ann was an active member and worker in Longview's Knife and Fork Club. She was a faithful member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Longview and devotedly served its Order of Daughters of the King support group. Ann was also proud of her memberships in The Daughters of the American Revolution and The Huguenot Society. Ann was loving, kind, generous, talented, supportive, determined, and diligent to her family and a host of friends during her life; she will be missed by those she leaves behind. She is survived by a sister, Janet Carlson and her husband, Elom Carlson of Gravois Mills, Missouri; a nephew, Fred Carlson and his wife and family of Kansas City, Missouri; her oldest son, Erle Douglas Evans of Winona; her youngest son, Henry Michael Wedemeyer and his wife, Martha, whom she loved as a daughter, of Tyler; four grandchildren, Doug Evans and his wife, Becky, of Tomball, Jennifer Frey and her husband, Jack, of Tomball, Stephen Wedemeyer and his wife, Kara, of Cypress, and Michael Wedemeyer and his wife, Staci, of Lindale; and nine great-grandchildren. Ann will be laid to rest at Lakeview Memorial Gardens in Longview. A memorial service to celebrate Ann's life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 10, 2006, at Trinity Episcopal Church, 906 Padon St., Longview, TX 75601, with the Reverend Kevin Wittmayer officiating. In lieu of flowers, family and friends are encouraged to make a donation to the Longview Symphony Orchestra; Hospice of East Texas; or the charity of their choice.
