Williams, Leona Catherine    

Funeral services for Leona Catherine Williams, 69, of Longview, will be 1 p.m. 
Wednesday, February 15, 2006, at the Welch Funeral Home Chapel, 4619 Judson Road, 
with a Garden Court committal. Pastor Paul Phillips will be officiating. Burial 
will be in White Cemetery. Mrs. Williams died Sunday, February 12, 2006, at a 
Tyler hospital. Mrs. Williams was born October 20, 1936, in Paris, Illinois, to 
Ralph and Reba Van Houten Gates. She had been a resident of Longview since 1977, 
coming from llllinois. Mrs. Williams was a homemaker and a member of the Berean 
Baptist Church. She enjoyed her computer and her friends. Mrs. Williams was 
preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Otis Leroy Williams Jr.; and a 
daughter, Carol Williams Maxwell. Mrs. Williams is survived by four sons and 
daughters-in-law, Charles and Doris Williams of Longview, Stephen and Sharon 
Williams of Nashville, Tennessee, Gerald and Kathy Williams of Gladewater, and 
Jimmy and Starla Williams of Longview; a daughter, Clara Williams and Phil Gash 
of Georgetown, Illinois; three brothers, Bob Gates of Martinsville, Illinois, 
Larry Gates of Kingsdale, Indiana, and Ralph Gates of Danville, Illinois; one 
sister, Shirley Roberts of Danville, Illinois; 12 grandchildren; 14 
great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive 
friends 6 p.m. this evening, February 14, 2006, at the funeral home. Memorials
