Williams, Mary Fitzgerald GLADEWATER --Memorial services for Mary Fitzgerald Williams, 89, of Gladewater, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 10, 2007, at the First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Rodger Garbs officiating. Born February 18, 1917, in Palestine, she entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, February 6, 2007. She graduated from Jacksonville High School, attended Lon Morris college and received both her bachelor's degree and her master's degree from Stephen F. Austin State University. She married Herman W. Williams on June 25, 1935. In 1942, they moved to Gladewater, and in the early 1950s, she began teaching math in the Gladewater public schools. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, a former member of the Three Arts Club, a Sunday school teacher and driver for the Meals-on-Wheels program. In 1998, she was recognized as the Gladewater Chamber of Commerce Woman of the Year. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert Hensley and Martha Priscilla Fitzgerald, and husband, Herman Williams. She is survived by her daughter, Martha Squibb of Dallas; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Ann Williams of Midland, and Donald and Loris Williams of Gladewater; five granddaughters, Elizabeth Rochester, Margaret Harrup, Beth Ann Williams, Allison Piatak and Katie Williams; two grandson and spouses, Randy and Julie Squibb, and Terry and Jamie Squibb; and four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of loyal friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 1167, Gladewater, TX 75647.
