Williams, Thelma Ruth Bennett KILGORE -- Private memorial services for Thelma Ruth Bennett Williams, 98, of Overton, formerly of Kilgore, will be Saturday, February 17, 2007, at Lakeview Memorial Gardens. Cremation arrangements are by Rader Funeral Home of Kilgore. Mrs. Williams died February 13, 2007, in Overton. Born February 23, 1911, in Bartlesville, Okla., she was a supervisor of Fred Harvey Restaurant and assistant manger of Thrift Drug Store. Arrangements are by Rader Funeral Home of Kilgore. Mrs. Williams was born February 23, 1911, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. She came to Kilgore with her husband, T.I. Bennett, during the boom days and lived in a tent in downtown Kilgore. Mrs. Williams spent most of her life in Kilgore; however, she moved several times. She lived in Albuquerque, N.M., where she was one of the original Harvey Girls and appeared in a movie featuring Gary Cooper. She was in California many years, where she became manager of Thrifty Drug Store. In her retirement years, she was housekeeper for Monsignor. Francis Weber at Ventura Catholic Mission. She moved back to Kilgore at age 65 and enjoyed life. She loved to travel and would say she had been all over the world. She took pride in packing her lunch and would mow seven acres of land on a tractor until she was 87. She and her little dog, Mitze, called Overton Health Care home for the last five years. Many days she would be seen around town on her walker with Mitze. Her children include Richard and wife, Rosemarie Bennett, Donald and wife, Juanita Bennett, Barbara and husband, Jerry Levine, Billy and Jay Bennett, and Evelyn and Gary Imboden.
