Wilson Jr., Charles Edward GLADEWATER -- Services for Charles Edward Wilson Jr., of White Oak, will be held 10 a.m. Monday, January 15, 2007, at Clarksville City Baptist Church, with the Reverend Roger Gage officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Memorial Gardens. Born May 9, 1927, in Erick, Oklahoma, to Charles and Ruby Wilson, he died Thursday, January 11, 2007, at his home. Mr. Wilson graduated from Garland High School in Garland, Texas. After serving in the United States Navy during World War II, Mr. Wilson attended and graduated from the University of Houston in 1953, with a degree in pharmacy. Mr. Wilson began his career working at Mading Drug in Houston, which eventually led him to Richardson, Texas, in 1962, where he opened and owned Arapaho Pharmacy. In 1969, Mr. Wilson moved to Gladewater, where he opened and owned Medco Pharmacy until the early 1980s. He began working for Eckerd Drug and retired after 10 years. At the end of his career, Mr. Wilson worked part-time for Brookshire's Pharmacy. During his career, Mr. Wilson served as president of the Dallas Pharmaceutical Association, and he served on the Texas Pharmaceutical Association board of directors, of which he was the chairman of the House of Delegates. He was honored as the Texas Pharmacist of the Year in 1967 by the Texas Pharmaceutical Association. In 2003, Mr. Wilson received his Gold Certificate for 50 years of service as a pharmacist. Mr. Wilson was a member of the Gladewater Rotary Club, where he served on the board of directors and was a past president. He was also a member of the American Legion. Mr. Wilson was a member of the Clarksville City Baptist Church, where he faithfully served as church pianist, Sunday school teacher, Sunday school director, and deacon. Mr. Wilson was an avid gardener and bird watcher. He enjoyed working crossword puzzles, fishing, spending time with family, and sharing the love of Jesus with everyone he met. Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Ruby Wilson; and daughter, Laraine Huddleston. He is survived by his childhood sweetheart and wife of 61 years, Faye Wilson of White Oak; daughter and son-in-law, Penny and Buddy Bennett of Ball Ground, Georgia; daughter and son-in-law, Patty and Mike Busby of Grand Prairie, Texas; grandchildren, Chris Wilson, Charles Wilson and wife, Amy, Amanda Digiglio and husband, Charlie, Cory, Brady, and Landry Bennett; four great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Ann and James Clay of Duncanville, Texas; sister and brother-in-law, Fern and Thurman Vanzant of Springfield, Missouri; brother-in-law, Bill Latimer of White Oak, Texas; brother-in-law, Leon Peel of Lancaster, Texas; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be his grandsons. The family would like to thank Legacy Hospice for the devoted and loving care given to Mr. Wilson during his illness.
