Wilson, Janet Stevenson Memorial services for Janet Stevenson Wilson, 93, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 5, 2007, at First Baptist Church, with Dr. Bill Everett and Dr. Harlan Hall officiating. Janet Stevenson Wilson, oldest daughter of Salathiel William and Musa Musgrove Stevenson, was born February 21, 1914, near Leigh. Though transportation was minimal then, she saw much of the Ark-La-Tex as "a pipeliner's daughter" as the family moved along with the oil pipeline's construction. She could entertain the nephews recalling those earlier times as she marveled at the progress of science, travel and communication in the days of "TV and space flights to the moon." She met and remembered many people from various schools she attended during those early years, often returning to Louisiana and Arkansas to visit. She especially loved seeing friends from the University of Texas at Austin. Janet and Howard L. Wilson were married May 13, 1934, at the First Baptist Church of Longview. They enjoyed the country life north of Longview for many years before moving to "town." They took great pride in their new home near downtown Longview, built by brother-in-law, Bala Duszik, and his sons. She was a beloved teacher of high school girls in Sunday school, an accomplished pianist, Bible scholar, and she loved the Lord. She also worked for Espy-Sandridge Insurance and First Federal Savings. She was preceded in death by her parents, Salathiel and Musa Stevenson; and her husband, Howard L. Wilson. Survivors include her sister, Dorothy S. Duszik; brother-in-law, Bala Duszik; nephews and their wives, Bala Lee and Sue B. Duszik, Steve Duszik and Becky Lummus, and Joe and Rhonda Duszik; and great-nephews, Bala L. Duszik II, Sean Duszik, and Will Duszik and wife, Kelly, and son Courtney. Great-nieces are Erin Duszik, Maggie Duszik and Farrah Timmons. The family suggests in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions be made to the Mexico Mission Trip in care of the First Baptist Church, 209 E. South St., Longview, TX 75601. A memorial guestbook may be signed at www.raderfh.com. Published in the Longview News-Journal on 7/4/2007.
