Wood, Alice Mae Kirl Funeral services for Alice Mae Kirl Wood, 76, of Longview, will be held 2 p.m. Monday, December 4, 2006, in the chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview, with Brother Ottis Jarrell officiating. Interment will be in Memory Park Cemetery. She passed away Thursday, November 30, 2006, at a Longview hospital. Mrs. Wood was born July 5, 1930, in Longview, to Fred Sr. and Mary Kirl, where she was a lifetime resident. She was formerly employed at Barrow's Grocery for 17 years, and was retired from Stemco after 20 years of service. She was also a homemaker and attended Pine Forrest Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Dewey G. Conley; brothers, Claborne Kirl and Fred Kirl Jr.; sisters, Winifred Ross and Billie Rathburn Christian; and granddaughter, Crystal Cherae Richardson. Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 42 years, Roy W. Wood of Longview; daughters and sons-in-law, Margaret Franks of Hallsville, Lynda and James Shelton of Longview, Teresa and Eric Christensen of Gilmer, Alison and Michael Hill, and Kay and Von Schattel, all of Hallsville; sons and daughters-in-law, David and Cindy Gordy of Longview, and David and Shon Wood of Lewisville, Texas; 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; sisters, Wilburdean Taunton of El Dorado, Arkansas, and Wynona Prince of Longview; brother, Huey P. Kirl of Daingerfield; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. Sunday afternoon, December 3, 2006, at the funeral home.
