Wood, Roy W.

Funeral services for Roy W. Wood, 80, of Longview, will be 
2 p.m. Monday, December 18, 2006, in the chapel of Rader 
Funeral Home of Longview with Brother Ottis Jarrell 
officiating. Interment will be in Memory Park Cemetery. He 
passed away Friday, December 15, 2006, at a local hospital. 
Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. today, December 17, 2006, 
at the funeral home. Mr. Wood was born June 4, 1926, in Big 
Spring, Texas, to William and Ellen Wood. He had been a 
resident of Longview most of his life. He was retired from 
Machinery Supply Co. in Longview and formerly was the general 
manager of Longleaf Lumber Co. Mr. Wood was a loving and 
devoted husband of 42 years to his wife, Alice, who preceded 
him in death November 30, and was the ultimate "PaPaw" to his 
grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was an avid 
outdoorsman, enjoyed numerous outdoor activities and also was 
an accomplished woodworker. He attended Pine Forest Baptist 
Church. He was also preceded in death by his parents and his 
sister, Hazel Jensen. Those left to cherish his memory are 
daughters and sons-in-law, Margaret Franks of Hallsville, 
Lynda and James Shelton of Longview, Teresa and Eric Christensen 
of Gilmer, Alison and Michael Hill and Kay and Von Schattel, 
all of Hallsville; sons and daughters-in-law, David and Shon 
Wood of Lewisville, Texas, and David and Cindy Gordy of Longview; 
17 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; sisters, Eva Longview of 
Naples, Fla., Jeanette Fielder, Lucille Hancock and Mary Jane Mowery, 
all of Hallsville, and Reba Harbour of Spring, Texas; his special 
little canine pal, Taco; and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial
