Williams, Jack C. A celebration of life service for Jack Calvin Williams will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 29, 2007, at Mobberly Baptist Church, with Dr. Laney Johnson, the Rev. Dale Perkins and the Rev. Scott Schulik officiating. Burial will follow in Gum Springs Cemetery. Mr. Williams went to his Heavenly home October 26, 2007, following a brief illness. He was born September 14, 1929, to Ore Lee Williams and Annie Bishop in Mansfield, Louisiana. He went to work in the oil field at a very young age and retired from Texaco as an off-shore production foreman 21 years ago. Jack was a gentle man with a strong faith in God. He served his Lord in many capacities during his 42-year membership at Mobberly Baptist Church. He most recently served faithfully as a greeter. Jack will be well remembered for his positive, can-do attitude, cheerful smile, and his willingness to serve God by serving others. He was a true picture of what it means to be a follower of Jesus Christ. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marilynn, after 53 plus years of marriage. He was also preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Eloise Heflin. Survivors include his wife, Fannie of Longview; daughter and son-in-love, Calva and Johnny James of Longview; grandson and wife, John and Hallie James of Pearland; sisters-in-law, Bobbie Davis of Longview and Lois Boudreaux of Port Neches; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and many, many friends. Visitation will be this afternoon from 5-7 at Welch Funeral Home, 4619 Judson Road. In lieu of flowers, the family strongly requests that memorials be made to the Mobberly Baptist Church Building Fund, 625 E. Loop 281, Longview, TX 75605.
