Wood, Roger Stephen Services for Roger Stephen Wood, 66, of Longview, will be noon Monday, May 21, 2007, at Rader Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Rosewood Park where Barksdale A.F.B Honor Guard will present full military honors. Mr. Wood died May 17, 2007, at his home in Longview. Born June 3, 1940, in Baguio, Philippine Islands, to Ivan and Gladys Wood, the family subsequently moved to San Francisco, California, where Roger was raised. Mr. Wood joined the U.S. Air Force in October, 1960, during which time he was a navigator, pilot and pilot instructor. He flew over 100 missions during the Vietnam War as a navigator and later flew photo reconnaissance missions in Europe as a pilot. He later moved to Wichita Falls, Texas, where he and the former Janice Ann Boerstler were married on April 14, 1981. He is survived by his wife, Janice Wood, son, David and wife, Miriam Wood of Petaluma, California; daughter, Dawn and husband, Sean Albertson of Longview, Texas; son, Stephen and wife, Cinderella Wood of Moore, Oklahoma; and son, Dean and wife, Caryn Wood. His children were a total source of joy in his life and, if that wasn't enough, the grandchildren came along and added a whole new dimension to his life - he literally would light up when he saw or heard from any of them. His grandchildren are: Aaron, Jaime, Kyle and Claire Wood of Petaluma, California; Ryan and Lauren Albertson of Longview, Texas; Mindy, Zachery, Amber and Austin Wood of Moore, Oklahoma; Whitney Wood of Goddard, Kansas, and Sarah Wood and Emily Coker of Longview, Texas. He is also survived by his brother, Larry Wood and wife, Rene, of Edmond, Oklahoma, and their children, Douglas, Daniel, Amanda and Ryan; his sister, Laverne Wood of San Francisco, California, and her son, George Stein and wife, Rebeca of Reno, Nevada. There are also untold numbers of friends and loved ones whose lives he has touched over the years, all of whom he cherished.
