Yancey, Kenneth Ray KILGORE - Funeral services for Kenneth Ray Yancey, 62, of Kilgore, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 23, 2007, at the chapel of Rader Funeral Home, with Bro. Kelly Brian officiating. Interment will follow in Kilgore Memorial Gardens. Kenneth went to be with his Lord and Savior October 20, 2007, during the 5 o'clock church bells. Kenneth was a 1963 graduate of Kilgore High School and attended Kilgore College. He served with the United States Army in Vietnam in 1966. He worked for Swepco/AEP for more than three decades. He was a former president of the East Texas Writer's Association. He enjoyed writing, art and singing. He collected books, bottles and other antiques. He volunteered his time and talent to Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, AWANA, Pioneer Clubs and Royal Ambassador's. He was a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church. He loved his family and his friends. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Mable Yancey of Kilgore; and two sons and one daughter-in-law, Troy Wingate and Terry and Robin Wingate. He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Yancey; four sons, Tracy and Mary Wingate of Longview, Robert and Susan Wingate of Marshall, Ensign David and Lee Yancey of Kilgore and Michael and Heather Yancey of Kilgore; two sisters, Freda Mitchell of Sabine and Kathy and Gary Stewart of Kilgore; two brothers, Dennis Yancey of Kilgore and Delwyn Yancey of Norman, Okla. Kenneth was surrounded by a large family, including many nieces, nephews, and 17 grandchildren and his church and work family that the Lord had given to him. The family will receive friends 6-8 this evening, October 22, 2007, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Cancer Society or the Boy Scouts.
