Young, Nello O. Nov. 18, 1914 - Jul. 15, 2007 Nello Ollie Young, 92, was born November 18, 1914, in Winnsboro, to William and Catharine Young, and he was the youngest of their six sons. Nello graduated from a small one-room school in the rural community of Delwin near Paducah. After high school, he worked on the family farm before joining North American Aviation to build B-25 Mitchell bombers. In 1942, he joined the U.S. Army Air Corps and was stationed at Muroc, Calif. During a furlough home to Winnsboro in 1945, he met the love of his life, Dessie Lee Wall, and they married a short time later. After the war, Nello and Dessie Lee lived in California for several years as he worked in construction and transport and earned a real estate degree. After returning to Texas, Nello also earned a degree in watch making from Kilgore Junior College, and he worked as a jeweler in Longview while he also got his real estate career established. Nello retired from real estate in the mid 1970s, and a few years later, he and Dessie Lee moved from Sherman to Lake Granbury. They made a final move to Kalispell, Mont. together in 1996. Nello had been a resident at the Montana State Veterans Home in Kalispell, Mont. since 2005. Nello was preceded in death by his parents, William and Catharine; and his five brothers, Roy, Gus, Joe, Fred and Jimmy K. Nello is survived by his wife of 61 years, Dessie Lee Wall Young; a daughter, Peggy Lee Young Garrett and husband, Mike of Palmer; a son, Ray A. Young and wife, Karen of Kalispell, Mont.; and two grandchildren, Andy Garrett and Nikki Young. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 21, 2007, at the Cypress Cemetery near Winnsboro. A family reception will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday evening, July 20, 2007, at Beatty Funeral Home in Winnsboro. Published in the Longview News-Journal on 7/18/2007.
