Young, William Michael Services for William Michael Young will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 9, 2007, at VFW Post No. 4002 in Longview. Funeral services will be conducted by the VFW Post No. 4002, with David Reeder, hospice chaplain, and Richard Shockley, speaker. Cremation arrangements are provided by East Texas Funeral Home. Mr. Young died Tuesday, May 29, 2007, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Mr. Young was born October 10, 1941, in Marshall, to William Maurice Young and the late Grace Harden Young. He was a Catholic and a lifetime member of the VFW. He spent 11 years in the U.S. Navy, serving in Vietnam, Hawaii and the Republic of China. Mr. Young was past commander of the VFW Post in Marshall. He was also a past president of the Heavy Metal Motorcycle Club. He had many interests, including gun collecting, cars, motorcycles, history, art and music. He was an avid reader. Survivors include his many friends and his family: his father, William Maurice Young of Marshall; a sister, Eva Rae Harris and family of Cypress; his sons, Franklin H. Young of Longview and Marc William Young of Jacksonville;and his daughters, Sophia Christina Collins and her family of Frisco, and Fei-Mei Theriot and her family of Flower Mound. Mr. Young had five grandchildren. Other survivors include his wife, Joyce Ravellette Young; stepsons, Kendall, Kelley, Kerry and Karl Ravellette and their families; stepdaughter, Karen Ravellette-Jordan and her family, all of Longview; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
