Joseph P (aka J.P.) Taylor was born in Jonesville Texas in November 15,1867. 
Joseph was reared by his mother Mariah and stepfather Lawrence. Joseph met 
and married Frances Dickerson on Feb 25, 1885.  Joseph and Frances were the 
parents of 11 children. However names for one child is unknown. Children and 
birth years known are Louis 1888, Saintum 1890, Milton 1895, Thadeus 1896, 
Morton 1897, Arthur Lee 1898, Joseph Jr 1900, Leslie 1902, Carmena 1905, 
Essie Dean 1907.

Joseph attended Bishop College, taught school in Marshall, farmed his land 
of 300 acres, and was also a Minister. Joseph was a member of St. John's 
Baptist Church located on Blocker Road, and is buried in the cemetery in the 
back of the church. Joseph passed away in Terrell Texas on May 17,1951.
