John William KUYKENDALL was the son of Revolutionary War Patriot, Matthew
KUYKENDALL, who served under General RUTHERFORD, Captain Joseph HARDIN,
Colonel (afterwards General) Charles McDOWELL, Captain Joseph McDOWELL, and
General MORGAN in Captain MURRAY's Company.

John William KUYKENDALL's earliest known ancestor was employed by the Dutch
West Indies Company and 1st immigrated to America in 1649 from the
Netherlands to New Amsterdam, which would later be New York City.
