Rev. John B. Davis  November 8, 1894 November 27, 1984  Rev. John B. Davis was born to ther parentage of Rev. and Mrs. Miles Davis on November 8, 1894, the oldest of fourteen (14) children of which nine (9) preceded him in death.  He accepted Christ at an early age. He united with the New Hope Baptist Church in Gilmer, Texas. He later moved to Marshall, Texas where he united the New Bethel Baptist Church. In 1919 he married Miss Arah Bush and to this union eight (8) children were born, of which 3 preceded him in death.  He pastored the Edward's Chapel Baptist and Mt. Moriah Baptist Churches in Marshall, Texas. In 1949 he moved to Dallas, Texas when he united with the Salem Baptist Church, now the New Jerusalem where he remained until his death. He served in the Armed Services in World War I. He leaves to mourn his death: four daughters, Mrs. Birdie L. Moore of Marshall, Texas, Mrs. Alzie D. Levels, Dallas, Texas, Mrs. Georgie V. Bullard, Shreveport, Louisiana, Mrs. Arah L. Broadnax, Los Angeles, California; one son Mr. Howard J. Davis, Long Beach, California; twenty- five (25) grandchildren; thirty- six (36) great- grandchildren; twobrothers, Mr. Judge Davis, Dallas, Texas, and Mr. Celestine Davis, Los Angeles, California; two sisters; Mrs. Artie Nelson, Gilmer, Texas, and Mrs. Johnetta Smith, Dallas, Texas; a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.  Interment: Rose Hill Gardens  Marshall, Texas
