Ferguson, Ralph Edward KILGORE -- Services for Ralph E. Ferguson, 87, of Kilgore, will be at 2 p.m. Monday, February 26, 2007, at the Rader Funeral Home Chapel, with the Reverend Dudley Plaisance officiating. Interment will follow in Hickory Grove Cemetery. Mr. Ferguson passed away Wednesday, February 21, 2007, at his home. He was born February 15, 1920, in Tatum, to Joe C. Ferguson and Judy Turlington Ferguson. He was a career police officer in Kilgore, spanning 31 years, beginning as a motorcycle patrolman and retiring on February 28, 1982 as a city detective. After retiring, he continued at his favorite hobbies of farming and ranching, raising cattle and horses, repairing and refurbishing old trucks and cars, as well as socializing with his relatives and friends. He was a member of the Pirtle United Methodist Church. Mr. Ferguson was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Mary Frances Ray Ferguson; his mother and father; three brothers, Walter Ferguson of Henderson, W.M. "Bill" Ferguson of Tatum and Cephus L. Ferguson of Tatum; three sisters, Dreby Washburn Selman of Tatum, Quida Hughes Drennon of Monroe and Sybil Gant Deaton of Tatum. Mr. Ferguson is survived by one son, Jonny E. Ferguson of Houston; a granddaughter, Wendy Ferguson Toliver, her husband, Matt Toliver, and a great-grandsons, Miller Toliver, Collin Tolover and Dawson Toliver of Eden, Utah; a granddaughter, Kristi Judy and her husband, Dale Judy of Bailey, Colo.; a grandson, Kevin Ferguson of Denver, Colo.; one sister, Donnie Ferguson Fransen of Opelousas, La.; a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and other relatives very dear to his heart. His two donkeys, Slick and Mr. Ash, whom he referred to as "The Boys," also survive him. Mr. Ferguson's nephews and great-nephews will serve as pallbearers. Memorial contributions can be made to the Pirtle United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday evening, February, 25, 2007, at Rader Funeral Home of Kilgore.
