Lawyer, Mark Services for Mark Lawyer, 59, of Hallsville, will be 10 a.m. Monday, July 31, 2006, at Jay Valley Baptist Church, with Pastor Kevin Bright officiating. Mr. Lawyer will be taken to the Freese Funeral Home in St. Joseph, Illinois, where memorial services and visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, August 2, 2006. Burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday, August 3, 2006, in the Stearns Cemetery of Fithian, Illinois. He died Friday, July 28, 2006, at his residence. He was born March 15, 1947, in Greenup, Illinois, to Harold E. and Velma Lanman Lawyer. A resident of Hallsville since 1984, Mark was a member of the Jay Valley Baptist Church, a veteran of the U.S. Army, and was employed as a diesel mechanic in the heavy machinery industry. Mark was a devoted husband and father who loved being with his grandchildren and being outdoors. A favored pastime was tending to his cows and taking care of his John Deere tractors. He was a member of the East Texas Antique Tractor-Engine Association. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Marvin Lawyer; a sister, Clarann Morse; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Don and Jean Maxwell. Mark is survived by his wife, Sue, of Hallsville; daughter and son-in-law, Beth Lawyer and Derrick Todd of Hallsville; son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Pamela Lawyer of Hallsville; grandchildren, Matthew and Zachary Todd, and Bryan, Brandon, and Katelyn Lawyer, all of Hallsville; and a sister, Cheryl Lawyer of Illiopolis, Illinois. Memorial contributions may be made to the Jay Valley Baptist Church, 2397 Jay Dr., Longview, TX 75605.
