Morgan, Julia Ann Moore MARSHALL -- On Monday, July 17, 2006, the angels swept down and took our precious mother and grandmother to the throne of our Lord. At 1:40 a.m., Julia Ann Moore Morgan passed from this life to one free of pain and heartache. For 93 years, we had this wonderful person in our lives. What a blessing that we had her here for so long! However, as we began watching her become so tired and weary, we knew it was time for Jesus to call her home. We will continue our lives with the assurance that we will see her again in her new body when we join her and so many others at the throne of God. Her last words to us were, "Don't cry, and be brave." While our last words to her were, "We love you. Go to Jesus now." Then, she quietly and ever so peacefully slipped away. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 19, 2006, at the Colonial Chapel of Sullivan-Heaster Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Algoma Cemetery-North. Her nephew, the Rev. Dr. Glenn Morgan, will officiate. The Rev. Roger Gage and the Rev. Don Dodge will assist. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday evening, July 18, 2006, at Sullivan-Heaster Funeral Home. Born August 27, 1912, in Greggton, Texas, she was the daughter of Calvin Guthrie Moore and Della Stevens Moore. She attended Greggton schools and later moved to Marshall when she married Frank Bushe Morgan Sr. on February 22, 1929. She was very active until 1999, at which time she moved to Longview and had lived with her daughter and son-in-law since then. The care they gave her was beyond measure. Their outpouring of love allowed her to be "at home" for many more years than her health would have allowed. Before her move to Longview, she lived in Marshall on Nathan Street. That was her home for nearly 50 years, and she dearly loved each of her wonderful neighbors. In years past, many people would see her and Morgan eating out practically every night, and she enjoyed visiting with everyone so much. Throughout the years, she worked a number of places in Marshall, including Beall's Department Store. She also worked at Joe Weisman Co. for many years. However, her most important role was being a mother and grandmother. Most everyone who knew her called her "Granny." Every year, her family enjoyed gathering at Lupe's Restaurant and celebrating her birthday. We were even gearing up for the celebration next month. We are still going to have her party this year; we will just celebrate in a different way. We will celebrate her life, her memory, her generosity, and her love. We will celebrate her goodness, her friendship, and her kind heart. We will celebrate her spirit, her smile, and her genuine caring for other people. We will thank God for her life and will continue to do so for many generations to come. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Morgan, on April 10, 1972; and her brother, Leon Moore, on November 30, 1971. Survivors are her daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Ron Walker of Longview; son and daughter-in-law, Bushe and Marjorie Morgan of Marshall; five grandchildren, Morgan Scott of Marshall, Misty Beene and Robert of Longview, Tracy Watkins and Tom of Marshall, Todd Morgan and Lynne of Longview, and Toby Morris and Ricky of Marshall; 12 great-grandchildren, Stephanie Krajca, Stacie Morgan Beene, Wesley Watkins, Jesse Watkins, Morgan Fulbright, Molly Fulbright, Katelyn Stark, Bushe Morgan and Taylor Morgan, Blaine Morris, Chelsea Morris and Logan Morris; and numerous nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers will be Todd Morgan, Tom Watkins, Robert Beene, Richard McBrayer, Bill C. Morgan, Mitchell Myers, Chester Hollis, Denny Bailey, Rick Morris, and Jim Kale. Honorary pallbearers will be Phil Everitt, Louis Harris, Frank Brazeal, Joe Bays, Earl Harkins, Harry Thurman, Roscoe Tinsley, Steve Boyd, Todd Stansbury, Dr. Lawrence Roe, and Dr. George Bennett. The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the nursing staff and caregivers of Good Shepherd Medical Center in Longview. They are truly angels on this earth and made her final days the most comforting they could have ever been. We would also like to thank Dr. Lawrence Roe, Dr. Charles Newkirk, and especially Dr. Rama Nayini for her heartfelt love and care during this difficult time. If desired, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the church, charity, or hospice organization of your choice. An era has ended. This world is different today than it was yesterday. The lives she touched have been changed forever. They will never be the way they were before they knew her. For that, praise be to God.
