Mullinax, Joe Memorial services for Joe Mullinax, 77, of Longview, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 12, 2007, at First Lutheran Church ELCA in Longview, with the Reverend Mike Maxwell officiating. Private burial will be held Wednesday, May 9, 2007 at Gill Community Cemetery near Marshall, with Pastor Kenny Bush officiating this family service. Mr. Mullinax was born October 11, 1929, in Kermit. He died Saturday, May 5, 2007, at his residence after a recent diagnosis of lung cancer. He graduated from North Texas State University with a degree in accounting, and he then served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was the former owner of Harley's Cut-Rate Stores in Longview, which he passed on to his children and son-in-law. He continued to be an integral part of the business until he fell ill a few months ago. He will truly be missed by all who knew him. He was a gentleman, compassionate friend, loving father and grandfather and great teacher. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Arthur and Lola Mullinax; and a grandson, James Blalock. Mr. Mullinax is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Anna Mullinax; his daughter and son-in-law, Kele' and Paul Blalock; his grandchildren, Chase Blalock, Chelsea Blalock and Joel Mullinax; his sister and brother-in-law, Sue and Keith Clark; his nephew and wife, Gregg and Jeannie Clark; his niece and husband, Robyn and Danny Moore; his former wife and mother of his children, Carole Mullinax; and his special friend, Barbara Pankhurst.
