Pope, Cressie MARSHALL -- Services for Cressie Pope, 97, of Harleton, will be 2 p.m. Friday, January 27, 2006, at Harleton Baptist Church, with the Rev. Mike Jones and the Rev. Harry Wilson officiating. Interment will be in Center Cemetery of Harleton. Services are under the direction of Sullivan-Heaster Funeral Home of Marshall. Mrs. Pope passed away January 24, 2006, in Gilmer. She was born April 10, 1908, in Walnut Springs, to George and Sudie Kite Wilks. She was married to John Howard Pope in October 1927, in Meridian. Mrs. Pope was a line worker for Thiokal Corporation from 1970 to 1974. She was previously employed with Blue Buckle Plant. Mrs. Pope was a member of the Harletones and Silver Strands. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Howard Pope; parents, George and Sudie Kite Wilks; brother, G.C. Wilks; sisters, Clara Palmer and Florence Anderson; and son-in-law, Alton Summers. Survivors include her son, Ronnie Pope and Anna of Harleton; daughter, Wanda Summers of Harleton; grandchildren, Dan Williams, Kim Minor, Greg Pope, and Jill Welch; and great-grandchildren, Hanna Pope, Halle Pope, Eli Minor, Taylor Welch, Dylan Welch, Michael Williams, Tony Williams, and Reianna Williams. Pallbearers will be Harvey Fox, Murray McGill, Bill Mobley, Jimmy Carl Oney, Terry Minor, Leonard Wright, Ronnie Jones, and Tad Poutinen. Memorials may be made to Harleton Baptist Church. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. this evening, January 26, 2006, at the funeral home.
