Ringler, Charles A. KILGORE -- Services for Charles A. Ringler, 82, of Kilgore, will be 2 p.m. Friday, June 9, 2006, at the Rader Funeral Home Chapel, with Chaplain Newt Cole officiating. Burial will follow in Algoma Cemetery of Marshall. Mr. Ringler passed away Tuesday, June 6, 2006, in Kilgore. He was born December 26, 1923, in Marshall. Mr. Ringler graduated high school from Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas. He served our country in the United States Marine Corps, 5th division, 28th regiment-weapons company, during World War II. Mr. Ringler was in the invasion of Iwo Jima. After the war, he earned his BSBA degree in marketing from the University of Arkansas, where he was academically honored in the Phi Beta Kappa and the Alpha Kappa Psi fraternities. He married Peggy Smith in 1948. Mr. Ringler was sales manager for Nehls Chevrolet in Marshall for 15 years before purchasing Center Chevrolet in Kilgore in 1966. Their company expanded in 1979 with the purchase of Steakley Chevrolet in Temple, which is now Don Ringler Chevrolet. After the sale of Ringler Chevrolet of Kilgore in 1985, Mr. Ringler stayed active in his investment ventures. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Kilgore Rotary Club, and the Kilgore Chamber of Commerce. He was also a 32nd degree Mason. Mr. Ringler is survived by his wife, Peggy Ringler of Kilgore; a son and daughter-in-law, Don Al and Linda Ringler of Temple; granddaughter, Cecilia and her husband, Dave Pellouchoud of Longmont, Colorado; a grandson, Donnie Ringler of Temple; a great-granddaughter, Lila Moon Pellouchoud of Longmont; sister-in-law, Mrs. Herman A. Smith Jr. of Harvey, Louisiana; and among several nieces and nephews are Herman Smith III and his wife, Rolly Ann and their daughter, Amber, of Slidell, Louisiana. Memorial contributions may be made to the United States Marine Military Academy, 320 Iwo Jima Boulevard, Harlingen, TX 78550; or the charity of choice.
