Scott, Bill R. Services for Bill R. Scott, 72, of Lake O' the Pines, will be 10 a.m. Thursday, December 21, 2006, at Trinity Episcopal Church in Longview, with the Reverend Kevin Wittmayer officiating. Burial will follow at Center Cemetery in Harleton, Texas, under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Mr. Scott died Tuesday, December 19, 2006. Descended from pioneer East Texas families, Bill was born February 26, 1934, in Hallsville, Texas, to Omar and Georgia Scott. Bill grew up in Harleton, Texas, where he attended the Harleton schools, later graduating from Kilgore College and Texas A&M University, where he received a bachelors degree in management. He served in the U.S. Army before he and his wife, Jeanne McCoy, married in 1957. They lived in Longview for 31 years before retiring to their family farm at Lake O' the Pines. Bill worked in the research and development department for Texas Eastman for many years before becoming project engineer for Longview Container Plant, where he also served as supervisor of the chemical process department. Most recently, Bill and his son, Blake, developed Scott Environmental Services, Inc. Mr. Scott was preceded in death by his parents, Omar and Georgia Scott; and his sister, Pauline Scott. Bill is survived by his wife, Jeanne Scott of Lake O' the Pines. His pride and joy was his son, Blake, and daughter-in-law, Daphne of Longview; along with his grandchildren, Jonathan Wyatt and Georgia Dean of Longview. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, James Allen and Dorothy Scott of Jefferson; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
