Thompson, Gurtis Carolyn MARSHALL -- Graveside services for Gurtis Carolyn Thompson, 84, of Longview, will be 2 p.m. Sunday, November 19, 2006, at Pope City Baptist Church Cemetery near Woodlawn, with the Rev. James Renfro officiating. Arrangements are by Downs Funeral Home. Mrs. Thompson died November 15, 2006, at her residence. Born July 8, 1922, near Coushatta, La., she loved fishing, gardening, cooking, and making jelly, and she was a member of First United Pentecostal Church. Survivors include her sons, Franklin, Gerald, Thomas, Ronald, Danny, and Darrell. Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mrs. Thompson passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2006, at her residence. She was born July 8, 1922, near Coushatta, La., the daughter of Clyde Marion and Viola Maud Murray-Born. She loved fishing, gardening, cooking, and making jelly. She was a dedicated member of First United Pentecostal Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dan. Those left to cherish her memory are sons, Franklin, Gerald, Thomas, Ronald, Danny, and Darrell; granddaughters, Carla Thompson Oden, DeeAnna Thompson-Young, and numerous others; and great-grandchildren, Madison Oden, Danyelle Young, and numerous others.
