Wilson, Laura Josephine "Sweetie" MARSHALL -- Laura Josephine "Sweetie" Wilson, 88, of Jefferson, passed away August 23, 2006, in Gilmer. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, August 26, 2006, at Walnut Creek Baptist Church in Diana, with the Rev. Mickey Davidson and the Rev. Perry Crisp officiating. Interment will follow in Walnut Creek Cemetery. Laura "Sweetie" Wilson was born April 21, 1918, in Boxwood, to Mr. George Washington Bassham and Mrs. Essie Camp Bassham. She married Wallace Wilson on May 13, 1938, in Gregg County. She and her husband ran the first selervice station for Exxon in Diana. She had formerly been in the antique business and grocery business in the Ashland community. She was a member of Walnut Creek Baptist Church and was a former Sunday school teacher. She is preceded in death by a brother and sister. Mrs. Wilson is survived by her husband, Wallace Wilson of Jefferson; her son and daughter-in-law, Loy and Ima Wilson of Deer Park; four grandchildren, Shane Wilson of Diana, Asa Wilson of Gilmer, Heath Wilson and wife, Deborah, of Ore City, and Brook and wife, Lynn Wilson, of LaPorte; four great-grandchildren, Lauren Wilson, Jonathan Wilson, Jessica Wilson, and Jena Wilson; and one brother and sister-in-law, Allen and Bonnie Bassham of Ore City. Memorial contributions may be made to Walnut Creek Baptist Church, 1969 N. Sego Lilly Rd., Diana, TX 75640. Viewing will be held from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Friday, August 25, 2006, at Downs Funeral Home in Marshall. A visitation with the family will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday evening, August 25, 2006, at Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home on Hwy. 259 in Diana.
