Neola was founded by James Willis Davenport and was located near the intersection of Old Mill Road (which refers to the mill/gin that used to exist in Neola) and Edgewood streets in the housing addition across from the Memoryland Cemetery. The cemetery sits on land that was owned at one time owned by James Willis Davenport.
