Jones - Ishmael

The First Baptist Church of Celeste was the setting for the wedding of Sylvia Diann Jones and Jimmy Ray Ishmael, on Saturday, March 21st.

The Rev. Kelly Armstrong officiated the double ring ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Sylvia Raper Jones of Celeste and Mr. Elwood Jones of Greenville. The bridegroom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. B. R. Ishmael of Greenville.

Given in Marriage by her brother, Steve Jones, the bride wore a full length grown of satin with Portishua overlay. The bodice had a sweetheart neckline and waistline accented with Chantilly lace and seed pearls. The sleeves were puffed to the elbow and fitted to the wrist with deep cuffs of Chantilly lace. The circular skirt overlaid with Portishua had three tiers of Portishua ruffle. The overskirt came to a point on the sides with Chantilly lace ruffled underneath.

Maid of honor was the bridegroom's sister, Judy Ishmael. Bridesmaids were Tammy Whitworth, Kim LaFavers, and Leslie Ard. The maid of honor and bridesmaids dresses were powder pink and empire waistlines, a short jacket of powder pink lace completed the ensemble.

Best man was Bubba Nicholson. Groomsmen were Philip Smith, J. C. Worley, and Steve Jones. The best man and groomsmen wore wine tuxedos with powder pink ruffled shirts. Ushers were Eugene Gregory and Kevin Arnwine. Frances Armstrong and Pat Rowell provided nuptial music and accompanied soloists Royce Slough and Marla Slough.

House party members included Pam Burns, Susan Smith, Cheryl Nicholson, Allison Parson, and Danell Renner.

The couple will reside in Greenville where the bridegroom is employed by J. C. Worley, general contractor. The bride is a 1978 graduate of Celeste High School and is employed by Citizens General Hospital of Greenville. Ishmael is a 1975 graduate of Greenville High School.
