Local Talent Appears at Opry

Ryon Gilliam, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Gilliam, performed at the Grapevine Opry on Saturday night, November 20, 1982.

Thirty-seven family members and friends attended to support him in his solo debut. They proudly watched and listened to Ryon as he sang three songs including "Old Flame" and "What's Forever For."

Ryon had auditioned on November 6th and on November 19th received the invitation asking him to perform.

He had to perform the next night after just one rehearsal that afternoon.

The owner of the Grapevine Opry introduced Ryon as a "sixteen-year old who had sung with the family band since he was five" and was a very talented young man.

Everyone in the audience must have thought so too for he was the only performer asked to return for a second bow. Of course, everyone in Celeste expected that.

Ryon will appear with the family band, the RCG Band at the L&L Country Diner, in Leonard, on Saturday night, November 27, 1982.
