Statzer - Hall Vows Pledged Saturday

Miss Deborah Jean Statzer became the bride of Roy Wayne Hall during a Saturday evening, June 1, 1974, ceremony in the First Baptist Church here. The Rev. Bobby Renfro officiated at the double ring rites.

Parents of the couple are Mrs. M. D. (Thela Davis) Statzer and the late Mr. Dewey Statzer, and Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Hall.

A golden arch decorated with Tropicana and white carnations and chrysanthemum centered the setting. Heart-shaped candelabra decorated with commodore fern held forty-two white gladiolas; carnations and chrysanthemums were in white baskets. White wedding bells and a unity candle completed the setting. Satin bows marked the family pews.

Mrs. Paul Holcomb, Jr., organist, and Mrs. Bobby Renfro, pianist, accompanied Don Thrasher who sang "We've Only Just Begun," and "The Lord's Prayer."

Given in marriage by her brother-in-law, Roger Compton, the bride wore a gown of white satin. A row of appliquéd roses with seed pearls on each petal adorned the front of the gown. Teardrop pearls and full bishop sleeves with fitted cuffs with rose appliqués and seed pearls enhanced the bodice. Her veil of silk illusion was trimmed with scalloped lace and appliquéd roses with seed pearls. A lace caplet accented with pearls held her full-length veil. She carried a cascade of white Frenched carnations and Tropicana roses trimmed with white satin and lace streamers tied in love knots. Her jewelry was a diamond necklace, a gift of the groom.

Mrs. Roger Compton was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Denise Hudson and Miss Wende Compton. Their A-line gowns of Tropicana crepe featured bishop sleeves and fitted cuffs of chiffon. They wore fresh flowers in their hair. Each carried a long stemmed white rose trimmed with satin bows and streamers tied in love knots.

Elizabeth Davis was flower girl.

Earl Ray Hunter served as best man. Groomsmen were Ben Bennett and Allen Wolfe. Brian Bennett served as ring bearer, Shane Compton and Scott Compton were candle lighters, and Charles Hall and Kenneth Hall were ushers.

The reception was held in the fellowship hall of the church. The wedding table was covered with inserted satin lace and a full chiffon skirt accented with rosebuds. A fresh flower centerpiece was used. A three-tiered wedding cake and punch were served.

House party members were Misses Debbie Abernathy, Bonnie Hall, Doris Hall, Kim Morton, and Lisa Morton. Miss Debbie Reese registered the guests.

After a short trip, the couple will live at RR 1, Celeste. The bridegroom is employed by ... Lumber Company of Greenville. Both are graduates of Celeste High School.
