Indians, Celeste Win 33 - B Tilts

Caddo Mills--Four games were played in the 33 - B basketball tournament here on Monday with the Celeste - Lone Oak tilt winning feature game honors.

The Blue Devils trailed most of the game, but extended Lone Oak into overtime to win 59 - 57.

Harry Childress scored twenty-one points to lead the Devils. Tim Gilliam had thirteen; Bob Barnard, twelve.

Buddy Clem and Larry Hubbard scored fifteen each for Lone Oak.

The Buffs led 30 - 27 at half and 42 - 41 going into the fourth quarter. The score was tied, 51 - 51, at the end of regulation play.

Campbell won the other boys' game with a 54 - 41 victory over Quinlan. John Foote had fourteen and Jerry Drake, Tony Willaby, and Mike Hill had ten each for Campbell. James Hodges and Steve Thompson tallied ten each for Quinlan.

Campbell led throughout the game, opening a 13 - 4 first quarter score. The Indians led, 26 - 17 at halftime.

Bland got behind, 14 - 6, in a girls' basketball game, but almost came back strong enough to win before dropping a 38 - 35 decision to a strong Lone Oak sextet.

Sheila Bynum and Jan Smith led Lone Oak's scoring assault with eighteen and fourteen points, respectively. Susan Green had sixteen and Joanne Tate, eleven, for Bland.

Celeste's big three of Martha Sumrow, Alice Roach, and Linda Weatherley propelled the fem Devils to a whopping tallied Sumrow, nineteen; Roach, seventeen; and Weatherley, fifteen. Willa Long had eleven for Caddo Mills and Sharlene Huskey, eight.

Celeste led 10 - 5, 23 -11, and 32 -11, at the quarters.

Tonight's schedule finds Royse City and Boles Home at 5:30 PM in a girls' game, Caddo Mills and Royse City boys at 6:50 PM, Campbell and Quinlan girls at 8:10 PM, and Bland and Boles Home boys at 9:30 PM.
