Betty Geneva White Walker

Betty Geneva Walker, 88, formerly of Sherman, passed away on Tuesday, September 19, 2006, at NHC Healthcare in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina.

Mrs. Walker was born on May 15, 1918, in Celeste, Texas, the daughter of Reno A. White and Myrtle Smalley White.

She worked in California for McDonnell Douglas Aircraft during WW II as an aircraft assembler. She also worked for Love Knit Manufacturing and Pools as a seamstress.

On April 25, 1943, she was married to Hillard Walker in Englewood, California. In 2004, Mrs. Walker and her husband, Hillard, moved to South Caroline to live with their daughter.

She was recently a member of the Georgetown Church of Christ. She was a long time member of the Church of Christ in Sherman, beginning at Walnut Street then at Travis Street and last on Western Heights.

Mrs. Walker was preceded in death by her parents, R. A. White and Myrtle Smalley White; brothers, Floyd White, Wayland White, and R. A. White, Jr.,; sisters, Audra Davis, Mildred Cairl, and Evelyn Cathy.

She is survived by her husband, Hillard Walker of Georgetown, South Carolina; daughter, Betty Kennedy and her husband, George Kennedy of Georgetown, South Carolina; son, Ronnie Walker and his wife, Pam Walker, of Huntington Beach, California; sisters, Mrs. Thelma Carman of Lawton, Oklahoma, Mrs. Ann Record of Greenville, Texas, Mrs. Mae Burns of Greenville, Texas, Mrs. Dorothy Borchardt of Ruidoso, New Mexico; two grandchildren, Steve Walker and Holly Walker of Huntington Beach, California.

A memorial service is planned for 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 28, 2006, at Western Heights Church of Christ in Sherman, Texas. Dannel Funeral home is in charge of arrangements.
