QUINLAN -- Cordie E. Smith, 100, resident of Quinlan, died May 1, 2007, at the Renaissance Hospital in Terrell. Her funeral service is at 10:30 a.m. today in the Quinlan Funeral Home chapel with Brother Monte Weaver officiating. Her interment follows the service in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Quinlan.

Cordie was born Oct. 3, 1906, in Quinlan, daughter of George B. and Lula Boswell Brown. She was married to Almen David Smith in 1923 in Quinlan. She was a nurse and was a member of First Baptist Church of Quinlan.

Cordie is survived by two sisters, Auline Smith and Coreen Dooley of Quinlan; a niece, Peggy Jo Butler of Quinlan; two nephews, James R. Smith of Desoto and Beno Smith of Cash; and a host of great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1953 and a son, David Clovis "Tommy" Smith, in 1997.

Pallbearers are Mike Crawford, Michael Crawford, A. E. Butler, Aaron Butler, Shannon Smith, Matthew Smith, and Beno Smith.
