E.M. Whitmire Jr., 79, of Caddo Mills died the evening of Sept. 4, 2006, at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville. Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Thursday at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Jim Anderson officiating. A graveside service is at 2 p.m. Thursday in Laurel Land Cemetery in Dallas. He was born Dec. 1, 1926, in Aledo to Ezekial M. Sr. and Mattie Evans Whitmire. He married Joyce Price in Rockwall on June 13, 1948. Mr. Whitmire served in the U.S. Navy Seabees. He was a drywall contractor and a member of First Baptist Church of Caddo Mills. Surviving are his wife of Caddo Mills, two sons, Donald Steve Whitmire of Irving and David Fred and Deborah Whitmire of Caddo Mills; a daughter and son-in-law, Jacquline Ardis and Jack Paris of Caddo Mills, a brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Virginia Whitmire of Pilot Point; sisters Helen McBride of McKinney, Louise Himelright of Leonard and Becky McBride of McKinney, two sisters and a brother-in-law, Carolyn and Tim Jones of Princeton and Grace Camper of Princeton; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Mr. Whitmire was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Vance Whitmire; and a sister, Pauline Heideman. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home.
