Gertrude Jennings Michie, 89, died Oct. 14, 2006, in Greenville. Services are at 10 a.m. today at First Presbyterian Church under the direction of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home. Dr. William Benner will officiate. Burial follows at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Caddo Mills. Mrs. Michie was born June 17, 1917, in Paducah, daughter of William Peter and Martha Era Cooke Jennings. She graduated from Paducah High School in 1934 and attended West Texas State Teachers College. Mrs. Michie worked as a beautician in Denton and Paducah. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Greenville. In 1942 she was married to Robert L. Michie of Josephine. After he had served five years in the Army Air Force during World War II, they settled in Josephine and were cotton farmers. They moved to Greenville in 1970. Surviving are her daughter-in-law Kimberly Michie and twin grandchildren Kelly and Kyle Michie of Broomfield, Colo., and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; two sons, Kelly B. Michie and Philip L. Michie; sisters Abbie Chapman, Mildred Brown and Maggie Lee Estes; and two brothers, Robert C. Jennings and W.P. Bill Jennings Jr. Pallbearers are Charlie Baucom, Don Cordes, J.L. Green, Jim Kusewitt, Ed McMeans and Michael Taylor.
