Halton “H.S.” Wright, 85 of Greenville, passed away on Friday at a local nursing home. Funeral services are at Peters Funeral Home chapel at 2 p.m. Monday with Rev. Larry Combs officiating. Burial will follow at Memoryland.

Visitation is from 3 to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

He was born on Nov. 14, 1921; the son of Lafayette Calvin and Ruby Pearl Maupin Wright in Cooper. On June 1, 1947 he married Billie Jean Cates in Cooper.

He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of Highland Terrace Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Billie of Greenville; son, Halton Wright, Jr. and wife Coletta of Greenville; daughter, Kim Horne and husband Dave of Greenville; grandchildren, Tara and Justin Buchanan of Sulphur Springs, Justin and Stacy Wright of Greenville, and Lonnie Michael Griggs of Arlington; great-grandchildren, Jacee, Jaden, Jenna, and Jared Buchanan of Sulphur Springs, Kylie and Aaralyn Wright of Greenville, and Michael Griggs of Greenville; brothers, Glenn, Ronnie and Marion Wright.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Jeanne Wright, one brother, and several sisters.

Rusty Newkirk, David Bolton, Scotty Calvin,Josh Newkirk, and Joe Thomas are pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Bobby Pickle, C.B. Pickle, Buck Buchanan, Rick Lynch, Vic Parpart, Wyman Johnson and Don Kessler.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association
